This class covers sailing terminology, indicators of wind direction, rigging basics, steering with a tiller, and other foundational boating skills through fun games and activities. Honing skills learned throughout the week, students may earn the chance to sail an Opti on the last day of class.

Prerequisite: Must be 7 years old, and be able to pass a basic swimming test.

Overboard Optis

Ages: 8-12

Throughout the week, students learn more about rigging, basic sail trim, launching & docking, tacking & gybing, righting a capsize, beginning racing, and good seamanship through a variety of fun activities.
